Noncredit Math Courses
Noncredit courses in math...
- Are at the pre-transfer level. See course list
- Are available to enroll after the student completes the Pre-Transfer Math Courses Petition in MyPortal. See screenshot
- Do not earn college units. This means that there is no per-unit fee charged for the course.
- Do NOT count toward part-time/full-time student status and financial aid eligibility like credit courses do.
MTH 253 and MTH 255 are noncredit versions of the credit courses MTH 53 and MTH 55, respectively. Noncredit
versions are taught in exactly the same way as the credit version, with students from
both in the same class. Both versions also satisfy the Math Proficiency requirement
for the associate degree. However, while MTH 53 and 55 satisfy the Communications
& Analytical Thinking area of the GE requirement for the associate degree, MTH 253
and 255 do NOT count toward GE.
