I spent 13 years with the Hayward Police Department, serving as a patrol officer, school resource officer, SWAT operator, instructor, patrol sergeant, and community college liaison sergeant. As a sergeant, I supervised investigations and critical incidents, including officer-involved shootings and homicide investigations. I hold a bachelor’s degree from CSUEB and a master’s degree from Lamar University. I have taught at Chabot since 2024, teaching criminal justice, investigations, report writing, and corrections. Before Chabot, I spent 10 years teaching use of force at HPD. My philosophy is simple: I don’t want to tell students what to think; I want to challenge how they think. I rely heavily on the Socratic method and believe meaningful interaction is more valuable than simply delivering information. After an injury ended my law-enforcement career, I chose teaching as a way to continue contributing to my community. I consider myself a student and enjoy learning from my students
